May 15, 2009 - San Francisco, CA (Part 2)

We had a nice day today in San Francisco.  Since we were all under the weather to varying degrees we decided to take a tour – Dr. Toad’s tour of SF.  Touristy I know but it was very enjoyable.  For 90 minutes they drive you around SF in a 1920 open air touring car with blankets to keep you warm and we got to see a lot of different parts of the city we would have missed otherwise and learned a lot of interesting info about the city and we didn’t have to move a muscle.  We were going to do the cable cars after we got back but the line to get on was ungodly long, like a two hour wait, so we opted for a nap in the hotel instead.  After resting we took a walk up to the North Beach neighborhood and had a early dinner at  a small Italian restaurant, thank you Yelp.  And then dessert at Stella Pastry, yum!  I love the local places.  Much better than the crappy meal we had last night on the wharf.  Joe is really enjoying the city – he thinks he would like living here.  I’m not sure for me – it is soooo high density.  There is absolutely no extra space.  After dinner we spent some time at a playground letting Zoey use up some energy but even the playground felt enclosed due to all the buildings around it.  I do love all the local eateries and stores nestled under the apartments, and the local flavor of the different neighborhoods in the city.   I always think Austin is a big city but it doesn’t compare at all.  I’ve never lived in a larger city so just have no experience.

Blog trivia......Can anyone tell me what movie made this San Francisco house famous?  Hint....movie included a man portraying himself as a woman.  Early 1990's film.

What do you win you ask.......not only do you get the satisfaction of knowing you were able to answer the first road trip trivia question before anyone else but you are now the official reigning champ of the "Road Trip Trivia" contest..........at least until the next question is asked.  What more could you want?
